President & Chief Executive Officer ­
Noorkhan Haidari

          Mr. Noorkhan Haidari, is a post graduate in economics from Western Illinois University, USA and certified as International Development Professional from University of Nebraska, USA. Prior to taking charge as the CEO of Azizi Bank, Mr. Haidari spent over two years managing the risk management portfolio in Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), the Central Bank of Afghanistan. As a Director ­ General, and earlier as an Acting CEO/Conservator of Development Bank of Afghanistan (DBA), Mr. Haidari was instrumental in setting the strategic direction of oversight of risk. He has contributed immensely to the development of new policies, rules, regulations and procedures related to operation, corporate governance, market and credit risk management and compliance. He was involved in the implementation of Basel Committee regulations in the Afghanistan financial sector. Mr. Haidari was keenly associated with various capacity building initiatives within DAB.  

         Mr. Haidari has a rich understanding of development challenges. He was associated with the UNDP, wherein he contributed to the Budget Department of Ministry of Finance in the development of national budget legislation and processes, preparation of national budget documents, coordinating technical assistance from the donors, and training the government staff at the centre and in the provinces on the budgeting policies and processes. Earlier to his, Mr. Haidari had a stint as an Economics/Private Sector Development Intern with the Embassy of Afghanistan Embassy, Washington D.C. As an intern he contributed towards the promotion of Afghan commerce and private sector development. Mr. Haidari also had short stints as a finance and development professional with the Danish Assistance to Afghan Rehabilitation and Technical Training (DAARTT), Kabul and with the Embassy of Sweden, Section for International Development, Kabul. Mr. Haidari has contributed to humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan during his stints with international and national NGOs such as the Action Aid, Islamic Relief, and Hearing Impaired Foundation of Afghanistan (HIFA). 

         Mr. Haidari has been a keen academic throughout his professional life. He has been the recipient of prestigious fellowships such as the Fulbright Scholarship, USA and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Scholarship, Germany. Mr. Haidari, has had a long-term association with Kabul University. He has been having regular interaction and knowledge-exchange with the academia on aspects ranging from economics, financial sector development and governance reforms. Mr. Haidari has traveled widely, attended various forums and seminars on development and finance. He brings to the table a rich understanding of best practices in the development, financial management and banking sectors.

    • Bachelor of Commerce from Punjab University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
    • Over 8 years experience in commercial and central banking
    • One year experience as Deputy Chief Credit Officer with Azizi Bank
    • Risk management experience with ING managed bank in Afghanistan
    • 3 years experience in Supervision with the Central Bank of Afghanistan
    • Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Azizi Bank, Kabul since 28th March 2007
    • Founder member of Azizi Bank & joined the Azizi Bank in Apr 2005.
    • Coordination with the Branches,Central Bank & all Govt.Deptts,Promoters etc.

        • Handled Credit Portfolio of more than 4000 Crore INR of Large Corporate Customers
        • Appraised credit proposals relating to Project Finance, Loan Syndication, Fund based and Non Fund based Finances of Corporate & Non Corporate Borrowers in the sectors of Port, Power, Civil Aviation, Telecommunication, Sugar, Automobile, Petroleum and Fertilizers etc.
